Caribbean Link Kite Competition & Fun Fly

The Caribbean Link Kite Competition and Fun Fly is only one of the fun activities on a packed guiding calendar, coinciding with Caribbean Link day. The Association became involved as refreshment servers back in the 1990’s, when the Scouts initiated the event; but later took it over.

“It’s a time when families can get together,” said Valerie Potter, Festival committee member. “We’ve seen fathers come with their sons and daughters. It’s the interaction, the picnic atmosphere.” It is also, of course, the visible excitement of the children of all ages.

Several corporate partners and manifestations later, the festival has found new life. As the festival evolved from a one-day to a weeklong affair in Easter, under new management – Tropikiters Inc. – the Guides remained an active partner; and the festival an exciting addition to the island’s annual calendar of cultural tourism events.

As Potter has said, “There’s promise of more good times to come.
